ROCKY MOUNTAIN MISSION CENTER ANNOUNCEMENTS – May 4, 2017:

“Super Sunday” Summer Camping Registration Day:

Youth campers throughout the Mission Center are invited to register in their congregations this Sunday, May 7, 2017 to help jumpstart our summer camping season! This can be done either through the congregation CFO or designee (who will submit all of the congregation registrations to the RMMC). Camp registrations done on Super Sunday will greatly help us to better prepare for an incredible camping experience. Approximately 200 campers have already been mailed the Summer Camping Brochure, which can also be found online at www.cofchristrm.org under the Youth & Young Adults tab. Check out the brochure online to find camp dates, times, locations, and details. Bring a friend along – we cannot wait to see you this summer!

Front Range Knit-A-Long:

It’s time for a crafty yarn donation event! For those who enjoy fiber fun (knitting, crocheting, tatting, or anything else that makes you warm) come join us at the Greeley Congregation church on Saturday, May 13th for a day with your hands immersed in yarn. Come to learn, to visit, and if you would like – to produce items for donation. Yarn and needles will be supplied if needed. Please contact Linda McKenna (720-939-1141) or Karen Hutchinson for further information.

Camp Paradise “Fine Arts” Reunion:

PLEASE NOTE: This reunion will be shortened in 2017.  We will still be gathering but the dates will be:  1:00 PM Friday, June 9th – 12:00 Noon on Sunday, June 11th.  This reunion will explore arts and crafts in an intergenerational way.  Our worships will be informed by our creativity.  All ages are welcome! Please let Shandra know as soon as possible if you are planning on coming: snewcom@cofchrist.org.

Changes in 2017 Summer Camping Fees:

In 2016, the Mission Center began raising funds through our Grocery Card Program to support Developing Disciples to Serve. We are excited to share with you that our collective efforts in fundraising have permitted the 2017 camp and reunion fees for youth to be offering based! We will ask that camper families and congregations make a personally meaningful offering of any amount towards camp participation. We have estimated that the cost per camper is: Junior Camps – $145, Jr. & Sr. High Camps – $245. Any shortfall in camp expenses will be covered by the Mission Center’s Grocery Card funds. The only camp that is not included in this exciting opportunity is Spectacular. With growing grocery card funds, we hope to add SPEC to this offering in the future. If you do not already participate in our Grocery Card Program, please review the information found in the final announcement below outlining how this program works, and consider being a part of this amazing effort!

 2017 Camping Staff Needed:

We have an exciting camping program planned for 2017!  However, in order for all camps to provide quality experiences for our youth, we need more staff! Although all youth camps are looking for adults who can help youth explore their connection with Christ, each camp is also in need of male staff who are/can become youth worker certified. Please contact Shandra Newcom if you are interested in joining our amazing youth camping program in 2017: snewcom@cofchrist.org.

Young Adult Retreat:
“Let us Begin” will be the Young Adult Retreat in Denver over Memorial Day Weekend.  This inter-faith retreat will take place as we visit with people from other faith traditions.  The purpose of this retreat is for participants to experience inter-faith dialogue and to learn about the religious diversity that surrounds us all.  Cost for the weekend is $200 and we are asking participants to pay what they think they can afford.  The mission center will help support young adults who want to attend.  Day rates are $25 / day.  We begin the evening of Friday, May 26th, and will wrap up on Monday, May 29th around noon.  Please contact Shandra Newcom at: snewcom@cofchrist.org to register or with questions.

President’s Challenge- Awaken to God’s Invitation:

If you have not already, please consider viewing the address from President Steve Veazey. His inspiring message, challenge, and questions / answer session are available to view online at www.cofchrist.org/presidents-challenge.

The Denver, CO congregation in the RMMC has started a new prayer practiceThey have started a Wednesday night prayer for peace service. The church will be open every Wednesday night from 6:00-7:00 for prayer and meditation on peace. At 6:30, they will follow the prayer for peace service as is done at the Temple that day. There is also time for personal prayers from the congregation. You are invited to join them for this important prayer time.

Developing Disciples to Serve is an important ministry of the Mission Center.

Grocery cards are available for sale to support this initiative. The Mission Center is selling grocery cards for $10 (they are also preloaded with that amount). When you use these cards at King Soopers, City Market or Safeway, you help earn FREE MONEY for ministry. Every time you buy groceries, you can add funds to the card for your purchase. The stores then donate 5% of your purchase back to the Mission Center. It is fast, free to you, easy, and a very effective way to raise money for our ministries in the Rocky Mountain region! ***APRIL UPDATE*** We have raised another $4200 so far in 2017! Please ask members and friends of your congregation to join in this effort.  To get more information, ask questions, or order grocery cards, please contact Phyllis Modica at the Mission Center office: 303-426-5900 x-1.
