SPECTACULAR: July 2025

SPECTACULAR: July 11-20, 2025                                                                                            SPEC Registration

WHAT: SPECTACULAR is the Community of Christ’s largest youth gathering each year! The mission of SPEC is to create a safe, Christ-centered community that encourages young people to discover God, their inherent worth, and cultivate and express their giftedness. This week long camp, organized by Community of Christ, includes sports competitions, music and art classes, educational experiences on issues facing today’s teens, musical productions, dances, movies, live performances and worship. It is a fun and full week!

WHO: Teenagers who have completed 9th-12th grades are eligible to attend Spec (class of 2025, 2026, 2027, 2028). We will attend this week as a delegation. You are invited to join the ROCKIES DELEGATION, who are people from Colorado and surrounding states! Our delegation  leader this year is Andrew Wolsey.

WHERE: SPECTACULAR is held each year at Graceland University located in Lamoni, IA – surrounded by Amish neighbors, rolling cornfields and night time cow tipping.. . (or so we’ve heard!)

WHEN: We will begin our adventure as a Rockies Delegation this year at Denver International Airport! The delegation will meet on Friday,  July 11 at DIA for an afternoon flight from Denver to Kansas City, MO.  After landing at the MCI airport, we we will be transported by bus to Apostle Shandra Newcom’s home in Independence, MO.  Dinner will be provided at Shandra’s house that evening and the delegation will stay the night there, departing the next morning for Graceland University in Lamoni, IA via bus.  The bus ride to Graceland should take less than two hours time.

SPEC officially begins Saturday,  July 12 and will conclude Saturday,  July 19. We will have our traditional end-of-Spec lunch at the Pizza Shack before the delegation travels via bus back to Kansas City, MO where they will spend the afternoon and evening at Worlds of Fun. The delegation will stay the night once again at Apostle Shandra Newcom’s house on Saturday night, bussing to the airport on Sunday morning, July 20 to fly back to CO.

***Flights are still being finalized and detailed itineraries will be communicated directly with parents by May 1.
