Friends,
Good News!!
On Wednesday, July 6th, the youth from Camp Paradise Senior High Camp, along with three staff members, went to the Safeway in Wheatland, WY asking for up to date, non-perishable donations for the food pantry at the Safe House in Cheyenne that houses and feeds battered women and children. These young people spent 3 full hours talking to people about the reason for the food drive, and very graciously accepted the occasional person who ignored them or just said, “No”.
For all of their efforts, the staff estimates that 85% of the people spoken to contributed something to the cause! Some gave one or two items, and some donated whole bags of canned goods. The Cheyenne congregation also contributed some canned goods and other items (not pictured here). At the end of the camp, I carried over 300 cans of food to Safe House along with some other boxed foods that were donated! The staff at the Safe House were ecstatic over how much was collected for them!
I want to commend this youth group, because they worked together for a long day in 90 degree heat, but remained polite and respectful to everyone that came across their path that day, as well as remaining focused on the reason for being there. They went back to the campground to finish off our week of camping knowing how much they had helped a very important cause. This may have been a small group of campers, but their impact was phenomenal! Praise the Lord for bringing so much joy to this camp!

In the middle of a hot, sunny day at a dusty village well in Samaria, Jesus meets a woman. He asks her for a drink of water. “Ah;” you say, “the story of the woman at the well. I know that pretty well.” But wait, not so fast! There is a lot more to it than you might think.
The story of the nameless Samaritan woman at the well, recorded only in the Gospel of John, is a revealing one, full of many truths and powerful lessons for us today. We will explore many of them during the weekend. We’ll learn more about the author of the book of John, we’ll examine the meanings and nuances of the story, we’ll share about the story, we’ll experience the story, and we’ll live the story. Come travel with us on this extraordinary journey!
