August 17, 2008Our congregation has been invited to donate specific items to Crossroads Safehouse to help alleviate some immediate needs. Last year we were privileged to have a speaker from Crossroads talk with us, and now we can make a difference in the lives of those they serve. Please consider bringing any of the following items or making a contribution so they can be purchased. Bonnie Thomas will take our donated items and assist in coordinating this effort. Thanks, Bonnie!
Items Needed: Baby bottles and baby wipes, size 3 & 4 diapers, baby formula (Enfamil with iron), full-sized bottles of new shampoo and hair conditioner, women's disposable razors, women's deodorant, cleaning supplies and plastic spray bottles, manual can openers, dishes, glasses, and flat ware (forks, spoons, and knives).
First Sunday Giving: We have decided to renew our bringing food items to donate to Larimer County Food Bank the first Sunday of each month. Jon Mendenhall will deliver our items for us, so mark your calendars to bring contributions September 7th and the first Sunday of each month! We hope Community of Christ can make a difference in alleviating physical AND spiritual hunger in our community! Sharon Troyer
August 24 IMMEDIATELY after the worship service, anyone interested in helping plan September's worship services will meet to schedule a planning session.
September 7, 10am A Super Kick-Off is being planned for the morning of September 7, 10am, when children's Sunday School classes will begin. Other exciting news is that on the fourth Sunday morning of each month a special activity will be planned for the children. Pat Miner and Kay Bunch will be heading up the planning for these activities, but may be asking YOU to help. We need to have 2 adults in each classroom and do have some volunteers in place. However, there is an opportunity for someone to take the lead in the elementary (grades 1-4) classroom. Please note that with the fourth Sunday being taken care of the teaching would only involve 3 Sundays most months. Please contact Sharon Fulton, 484-6943, is you would like to help out in any way.

WCN Group Welcoming Community Network - July 2008
The Welcoming Community Network (WCN) group provided the 11 o'clock worship service on June 8th and hosted the Second Sunday Social that evening. The film "for the BIBLE tells me so" was viewed by 26 people that turned out for the event. Pizza, drinks, discussion and dessert helped make for an enjoyable evening.
The WCN group is also sponsoring the adult Sunday School class this summer. Bill Russell's new book, "Homosexual Saints: The Community of Christ Experience" is the resource being used to encourage dialogue about a topic about which ignorance, prejudice and fear abound in our society and many of our churches.
The purpose of the WCN group is to educate, and encourage the congregation to respond to the call of the gospel to welcome everyone, including persons of all sexual orientations and gender identities into our Community of Christ. Such welcoming congregations must be public about their intentional welcome. Otherwise, there is an overwhelming perception, supported by historical attitudes and current practices within many churches, that only heterosexual persons are fully welcome.
If you want to know more about this effort, please contact any member of the WCN group.

Our Vision StatementWe believe in an all-loving, ever-present God whose spirit exists
in all people. We believe in a community of Christ where love
and the desire to share, nurture relationships that value and
support each other in the pursuit of peace, hope and joy.
